  7th Annual Chamber Walleye Classic

Mobridge, SD ––June 12, 2010 – Chamber Walleye Classic anglers will try trolling their way to victory on legendary Lake Oahe, the fourth largest reservoir in the country.

At press time, 40 teams had signed up to fish in the tournament which will pay out 80% of the total entry dollars to 25% of the field. “I think you will see some really nice fish being brought to the scale on Saturday. Whether anglers are pulling crankbaits on leadcore or live baiting with night crawlers, minnows or chubs, this is a world class walleye fishery and with an abundance of fishing options to choose from, weigh-in fans will be treated to a steady display of walleye gold”; shared Cindy Melcher, Executive Director of the Chamber. “The water levels are at an all time high and much clearer than it was last year at this time.” Anglers will have plenty of areas in which to fish, from the ND Stateline to the South Point of the Moreau River. The entire Moreau River & Swan Creek will be fair game as well as the Grand River West to the Spurline Bridge (abandoned Railroad Bridge).

Anglers fish in two or three person teams and are allowed to weigh a limit of 6 fish per team. Cash prizes will be awarded to teams based on total weight caught during the day of the tournament with the first place purse of $3,000 (based on 100 teams). Anglers may boat 8 fish but can only weigh a total of 6 walleye or sauger, of which two may be 20 inches or over”. No culling, or sorting will be allowed. Last year’s Chamber Classic, 57 teams brought a total of 259 fish to the scale with Bob Zimmerman, Marty & Deb Looyenga scoring the win with six fish weighing 19.85 pounds.

Spectators are encouraged to attend the weigh-ins and cheer on their favorite teams. There is no cost to attend. Stop by at 8am to see the boats launch and from 2:30pm-4:30pm to watch the weigh-in. Teams will launch single file from the Indian Creek (East) Boat Ramp and will take their catch across the scale at the Bridge City Marina, located at Indian Creek.

We are entering our 7th season for the Chamber Walleye Classic in the Bridge City. Tournament activities begin Friday, June 11th with a social from 6pm-8pm followed by a short rules meeting at 8pm which will be held at the Wrangler Inn. Only one team member MUST be present. Anglers must be present to win all prizes.
