Took to the water with my old man and my two boys for some walleye action at Orman.  Pulled in 30 or 40 unders, but only one over 23".  Could not find the overs on this trip.  We fished 12'-15' FOW with bottom bouncer/spinners/death hooks tipped with crawlers.  Fish are really skinny and don't look very healthy to me... Hopefuly everyone is keeping their unders because they may take the lake over if they are not thinned out.

Hit Orman Friday morning for a few hours with mixed results.  I am guessing the storm the night before shut the fish
down in the morning because the bite didn't really turn on until 11:00.  Overall it was a good day on the water considering the wind was blowing pretty hard.  Caught a 23" and two 14" off of Fruitdale point to start filling the livewell, but that took an hour and half.  Moved to the South end of the dam where I could 't keep up with my two rods taking off 12" fish and replacing bait.  Did catch one 19" that I had to toss back.  Ended the day catching a 13" fish off the South Island along with a bunch more 12" fish.  I pulled crawler harnesses with spinners and slow death hooks behind bottom bouncers, but I think anything could catch the small fish.  Curious is anyone is catching any slot fish?  I have been out 5 or 6 times since April and besides the first trip out I have only caught one slot fish.

Been catching a lot of fish lately on Orman with bouncers and jigs - but there really seems to be an over abundance of fish in that 10-12 inch range. Have caught very few in the slot, and a good amount in that 18-20 range, but those small walleyes are pretty ferocious. I've heard it from others too. Hopefully there's not a shortage of bait fish this year!

Hit the water on a great SD day and left with a full 4 person limit.  Pull bottom bouncers with spinners and slow deaths all day.  Brought in 4 nice overs and had to throw a couple back throughout the day and fished through a ton of unders.  Kept our unders and got some really good looking filets for dinner.  Great time to be on the lake... Even had to jump in because got too hot in the afternoon!

The bite is on. Had an incredible day yesterday. Fished all worms any way you wanted to put them down they took it. Plugs worked super as well. Big fish, little fish, slots. Only bad thing is weather. Wind and rain beats you out there.

fishing was much slower yesterday and only caught one over on a slow death hook, bottom bouncer half a crawler up north.. We caught six unders about 10 to 13 inches. one on plug and rest on bottom bouncer and spinners full crawler. we did not catch any slot fish yesterday. we did catch one bass up North as well. we fished close to 5 hours but it was pouring rain and definitely much much slower than two days prior fishing the same exact spots. Graphed a lot of fish but could not get them to bite.

Great plug bite going at orman. Our boat of four krot our 4 overs around 22 inches each and caught all of our unders around 10 to 13 inches each but threw them back. Caught a lot of fish over 18 and a lot under 15 and only a few slots. The over 18 wanted it slow and unders would bite when we trolled faster. Great great day on the water but water was very rough with some whitecap but the ranger boat did it's job.

Went out on Orman Saturday morning 8 AM to 1 PM started off slow because we were not sure where to start, but eventually found about a 100 yard stretch that was holding quite a few fish... Ended up taking our 3 overs (18"/19"/22") and throwing back 6 or 7 slot fish.  We were the only boat in the spot until boats saw us hauling in a few fish then it was like flies on horse****.  Give people some common courtesy and don't cut people off their spot.  Had three different boats try and push us off our spot in a matter of 2 hours.  We were letting a 9 year old and 2 year old reel in our fish so they could have some fun, but three boats full of older men couldn't see that and were trying to be selfish!

Tried out the Channel again near the spillway.  Only caught was two snagged suckers, which are plentiful as they were jumping out of the water continuously for the 2 hours we were there.  Nothing else caught.  One guy on the south bank caught a walleye on a spoon of some sort, but threw it back.  We moved to the dam afterwards and only caught one milky slot male.  Plenty of boat activity by the dam, but it was tough to see if anyone was catching anything.  Bite is still pretty slow.  Not sure if the spawn has happened yet.

Went to the Channel for the first time in three years to try for some 'eyes.  Started off down by the bridge, but no luck.  A nice fisherman came back from the spillway and let us know he caught a few there on darker plastics.  So my friend and I walked up to the spillway on the north side.  Though the way down to the water is extremely dicey at best, there are a few places to fish if you can get down to the shore.  My friend caught one male within the first 15 minutes, but nothing afterwards.  I had two on, but both spit out the jig.  4 guys fishing on the southside didn't catch anything while we were there.  The bite is still pretty slow so it appears the spawn hasn't started yet.  Hopefully once the water warms up, the bite will get better.
