Planning on bringing boat out Thursday-Sunday. Any recommendations on depth, location, and style of fishing (plugs, bouncers, jigs). Not asking for hot spots, just looking for any advice people are willing to share to hopefully catch a few and have a fish fry. Also, anybody else going to be out fishing? Thanks again for the info.

Bringing the boat up for the 4th of July weekend. I have only had a boat on Orman once and didn't do very well. Anybody have any advice on finding the walleyes that they would be willing to share? I know it is weeks away so things can change, but just looking for what other people are usually using around that weekend. I do have a bunch of plugs and trolling gear, but always prefer pulling bouncers or jigging if the fish are willing to cooperate. Thanks for the help!! Anybody else going to be out that weekend?

Took the boat out for the first time on Friday for a bit and caught a 13in crappie and a 11in small mouth bass.. using minnows on a jig head, drifting in the breeze and lightly jigging off the bottom

Lake and inlet are ice free.  Have been scouting out the inlet for the last few weeks looking for walleyes. White bass have been busting the surface in the inlet and Friday caught 5 in a row all around 13-15" on a fly rod and a slow retrieve. No water being released from the river.  Doesn't seem to be much walleye activity in the inlet yet but the water is warming. Would bet they'll start moving in by the end of next week.

Lots of small fish for me as well.  A few OK fish but they are very few and far between.  The small fish I'm guessing are just from a really good spawn.  The GFP says the lake has a great ability to produce fish naturally.  As far as the reasoning behind only catching them, I am guessing the larger fish are just on a completely different type of forage.  Probably shad.  I have not had the camera down to see if there is much for dead shad around, I know I didn't see any in the boat even late in the year.  What is most interesting to me is that I caught good fish this fall right up until ice up out of the boat.  Ice comes and they are gone.  Not sure what the change is, same spots, same presentation, and I can't catch them?  Typical Orman.

Not much for perch at all this year either, though I stay away from the deep water.  No pointing in killing those fish.

Hope someone has some success out there!
