12/30/11- Fished Bitter from 11:30am to about 4:30pm. We picked up 22 JUMBO perch with the largest 13 1/8 inch. We used a varit of colored jigs. Minnow heads was the choice, but they wanted spikes later in the day. It was cloudy, so the action was not fast. It seemed about every 15 minutes active of fish would move into the area. 20 FOW was the ticket as we moved twice to find action. Ice was about 11 inches thick with some standing water on top with the recent rain. Good luck! |

Went out and fished Bitter Lake for three consecutive days and the perch fishing was great, we're only expecting it to get better. There were a few walleyes scattered throughout the morning which kept it even more exciting.

I am going to say poor fishing because it took all day to catch one less than a six man limit but the quality of fish are great. Everyone got their one over but it was tough. Three were caught on cranks, a couple on crawlers but most of the fish came on slip bobbers in the trees near the islands in the SW part of the lake.

Out on Bitter from 4 to around 8 tonight. Caught our eight fish throwing plugs. Fish were from 17 to 21 inches. Caught and released one walleye that was just shy of 25 inches.

Had a boat on Bitter Lake and one on Waubay Lake today. Bitter was tough going with the water as clear as it is, the other boat limited on walleyes on Waubay Lake. |

Was out on Bitter tonight. Went out about five thirty and came off around eight thirty or nine. Four walleyes, a 21, a 19, and two 18s.

Got 5 walleyes on Thursday. All 18 to 19 inches long. Got all our fish in 11 to 14 feet of water. |

Fished at Bitter on Saturday from 10-4...didnt catch anything nor had a bite, talked to a couple other fisherman and they were biteless as well, only 1 of the 5 people we had talked to caught a 10 pound Northern off of the three sisters humps islands. Fish must be somewhere on the lake, as there were 40 or more people fishing it. Big tournament on the lake coming up soon, hoping the fish start to heat up.

fished bitter last saturday caught 6 nice fish all were caught on live bait 3 on spinners and minnows 2 on jig and fathead 1 jig and leech north end of the lake in shallow water drifting anywhere from 2 feet to about 7 feet drifted through some water about 14 ft but no bites went out of the access by fishermans village never went south of the private access behind the old hotel that was moved in a few years ago. never been on the lake before was a good time. lots of structure quick rises and drops got hung up a sand/gravel bar off an island less than 2 ft of water tring to net a fish drifted right on it just lifted the motor used the oars to push out was the nicest fish of the day 18plus all in all it was slow 1 fish per hour had to move around but still a meal of fish. a day on the water with the father in law was a good day.. good luck

zpeters73 , FYI, we tried some Gulp and it didn't work. Had to be something with a curly type tail with some action, and we didn't have any Gulp like this.

All fish were caught shallow, nothing over 8' deep, most 3-5'. We caught all our fish with jigs and plastics, fished very little live bait and when we did, it didn't work nearly as well. Found larger fish on south end of the lake, seemed to be schooled together.
