Casino Cup Walleye Tournament - Final Results

Day 1 News and Results



Anglers were faced with some very tough conditions on day one of the Casino Cup Walleye Tournament on Lake Oahe out of Mobridge, SD.  Winds gusted 30-40 mph and temps in the mid 40's made Lake Oahe roar with its best, but 100 anglers made their way out to search for the always unpredictable walleye.  Teams were able to catch walleyes, but most had a tough time bringing in a limit to the scales.  



After day one, only two teams brought a limit of 5 fish to the scales.  Day one leaders were Corey Jueneman and Collin Beitelspacher  who brought in 5 fish weighing 18.25 pounds and also big fish of the day that weighed 10.19 lbs.  Coming in second was the South Dakota Outdoors team of Mike Haas and Josh Loebs weighing 5 fish totaling 10.09 lbs.  Close behind them was the team of Gary Smikrud and Richard Baumgartner with 9.78 lbs.  



The Grand River Casino Staff did an excellent job getting boats in and out of the water, making day one seem like a walk in the park.

Day 2 News and Results



The final day of the Casino Cup Walleye Tournament brought some nice weather conditions, but many teams still were faced with tough fishing condtions.  Teams that did not produce money winning fish the first day were able to bring in nice limits of fish that did put them in money and the opposite happened with teams that were in the money after the first day.  The sluggish bite made the competition tough and a limit of fish on Day 2, meant money for some.  



When it was all said and done, the team of Corey Jueneman and Collin Beitelspacher came away with top honors, weighing in a two-day total of 28.87lbs and $5000 to compliment their efforts.  Coming in 2nd were the team of Chad Maloy and Ron Sahr weighing in 18.92lbs and $2000 and in 3rd were Ritchie Davis and Byron Larson with 16.78lbs.  Close behind them were Jack Volk and Robert Rossow who placed 4th, Gary Skimrud and Rick Baumgartner in 5th, and Terry While and Marty Gienger in 6th.  



Again, hats off to the the Grand River Casino's Staff for their efforts in running the tournament and to all the anglers for the great competition that makes the Casino Cup Walleye Circuit one the best ameture circuits out their today.  



The next stop on the Circuit will be on North Dakota's Devils Lake and is hosted by the Spirit Lake Casino, June 4th and 5th.
