I just got notified Im deploying last friday in 3 weeks.  I was supose to go to Canada for a 10 day walleye and pike slaughter fest and now thats not happing.  So any way, I was wondering where my best spot to camp for the 4th and catch some eyes or smallies with such short notice.  Im thinking Ohae but, but Im sure its going to be packed.  Any lakes or off the path campsites on Ohae any body know thats hot right now?

On oahe bite good at Bush's Landing off Blood Run, Fairbanks and Willow on Crawlers and beads behind bouncer anywhere from 10-30ft we hit the points at the mouth of these creeks and did well.  If you really want to catch fish, West Bend usually has campspots leftover and the walleye size limit is dropped July 1st plus you'll catch lots of big smallmouths too...Thank You for Serving our Country!

Pollock, or even a little further north, but then you'll need a ND Liscense.  Mobridge could be a good time however, with all the festivities going on, and there is plenty of water, things don't get too bunched up.

We ended up going to Ft. Thompson and camping at Big Bend Damn.  We got rained on the first day, then cought about 30 walleyes between 3 of us in a few hours at night right at the damn.  all good eaters, 15"-17".  There were a few guys there that were keeping 10"-12" walleyes.  I thought that was b.s. just because the size dropped doesnt mean you have to kill every thing you catch!  They also had a 6" smallie on the table which I also thought was b.s. but what ever.  Some people just dont have a clue I guess.  We only kept 13 walleyes.  People need to learn selitive harvist! Thanks for the info though guys!
