I know it's early...need to send a reminder!! Ice Fishing Tourney

Alright everyone on SDO, I know that it is super early to be posting anything about the Mobridge Ice Fishing Tourney, but I just wanted to let everyone know that entries for the Annual Ice Fishing Tournament will be opening up registrations online Oct. 1, 2009.  For those of you that have fished it before, you know that the order that you get in is the order of launch.  We have some great things planned included $85,000 in cash and prizes this year!!!  More on that in September.

WE ARE CAPPING THE TEAMS TO 400!!!

Whatever you do, don't be in the first 100 to sign up. Hardly any door prizes went below team 100 last year. Not sure what the deal was.

Aberdeen will also be hosting an Ice Fishing Tournament.

January 10, 2010
Aberdeen is hosting the NAIFC (North America Ice Fishing Circuit)
This is a professional ice fishing tournament. It is open to all ice fishermen.
There is a 150 team maximum. This tournament will be held on Richmond Lake NW of Aberdeen, SD. This tournament is an open (to all ice fishemen) qualifier for the NAIFC Championship.

Mark your calendars! Lets give a warm welcome to NAIFC and show them how we catch fish up in the Dakotas!! Tournament is scheduled regardless of the weather, and we all know how that can be. There will be film crews and media personel covering the tournament.

Are you serious?!?! Why would you schedule an ice tourney the same day as the Mobridge one!  Had too much fun in Mobridge last year, and will be going back again!!! I would like to fish the NAIFC, but not going to happen...try to schedule different dates next year!!!

It is the next day after the mobridge one according to the date. 
However still very inconvenient.

I know it is tight guys, I appologize for that. That was the only date we had open to chose from.  This might bring more people and exposure to the Mobridge Tournament also. We had to shell out a lot of money to make this happen, I again appologize that it is tight with the Mobridge Tournament. You yourself said you would like to fish the NAIFC, now here is your chance to show them what we can do in our own backyard. If you were lucky to qualify for the Championship in Rhinelander, Wi that would be great for South Dakota. I would appreciate your help and participation in the tournament. Help get the word out.

Here is the link for the NAIFC if you would like to learn more about the Tournament. http://www.naifc.com/   Once again this tournament would not have been coming to South Dakota at all if it weren't for the hard work of a few. I know it is tight to the Mobridge Tournament but the National exposre this would generate for Aberdeen and South Dakota is great. You could be lucky enough to be chosen as an honorary Ice Men Member, have camera crews follow you around fishing, are you up to the challenge?

Casey,

What were you thinking when you scheduled the NAIFC tournament January 10, 2010?  Even if your tournament was Sunday and the Mobridge Chamber Ice Fishing Tournament was on Saturday, the anglers for your tournament would have to be present in Aberdeen for the 7 pm rules meeting Saturday night.  I hate to inform you that the Mobridge Tournament weigh-ins doesn’t get over until 9:30 pm.  Don't you think that you could have done a little homework and/or at least contacted the people at the Mobridge Chamber before you jumped into this?  No disrespect.  You two should be working together to make the northern tier of the state of South Dakota a place to be and not be competing with one another. 

I have heard a lot about how the City of Mobridge and the City of Aberdeen are working together on several different projects and wouldn't it be nice if we could say that about other entities such as the Aberdeen Convention and Visitors Bureau?   Just a thought.

Looks like I'll be missing this event as someone pointed out, weigh-ins won't be done until 930 pm at the earliest.
