Hit up waggoner lake (philip lake) north of philip today. It was very cold, overcast and windy. Caught one 2 pound pike and a tiny large mouth bass. Some people fishing by us caught one 2.5 pound pike, and another group got skunked. Defiantly not worth the long drive, but had to fish there at least once.

I went out and set up two tip-tips with smelt and didnt have a bite all afternoon. But my party caught alot of perch, some were 8-9 inches nothing huge. Caught all the perch on the east shore north of the boat ramp on minnows, caught close to 25.

fished lake wagner today ove by phillp did well got some nice perch and some nice gills and a couple nice crappies had 3 flags go off but no northern or bass was a slow day but but we did catch some fish ice was 15 inches thick tight lines

I fished there once last year, planning on doing it again when I get back. The ice was weird, 18"-20" of really hard black ice. Crystal clear. It was weird. Make sure you have a lot of line on your tip ups, I was spooled twice. Never been spooled by a pike befor either. We went 1 for 18, 24" pike. 3 guys, cought some nice perch, 10"-12". Watched a guy catch a "8 lb" pike, it looked like it was at most 28", I think he was stretching his story a bit. I have heard of big walleyes in there but never seen any

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know of any bait restrictions on that lake? Or witch end of the lake has the warm water? Shouldn't be to hard to lacate open water, but thought I'd ask. I found a contour map of the lake and am starting to get a little exited for the 09-10 ice season. |

Waggoner has bass, bluegills, perch, crappie and northerns in it. I have heard that it has a warm water running into it and part of it is open year round. I have never fished it but know people that have fished there and they say its got some good fish in it. As farther as the weather it is really had to know what it will be like at that time. Varies from year to year.
