Went to Pactola today and fished by visitors center. Started about 11 and quit little after 4. Caught twelve lakers all under 24. Biggest was about 22 inches. Caught them all about 60 to 75 feet of water. Caught 2 jigging and rest on tip ups.

We went out Monday. It wasn't the best but we caught fish. We caught a 16" rainbow, 11" brown, and four lakers all under 24". The biggest laker was 22.5". We had the same tip-up go off three times and let the rookie get them, he missed all three... but hey, you have to learn some how. We're going out again Friday. It should be a good day and I think we found the spot on Monday. And we didnt catch any of the fish on a jig. ; )
Has anyone been to Newell in the past few days? Or is it still a dead sea this year? |

Went to way up Jenny yesterday and got skunked. fished in every depth and tried just about everything. Saw some big lakers on the underwater camera but couldn't get them to bite. Other people were getting a couple trout and pike but they were small and scarce.

have'nt fished i for a few weeks but was doing fairly well for lakers in 40-55 fow using lindy flyers and minnow heads. Also got a few small pike in shallower using smelt and shiners on tip-ups. Good luck.

On the ice Sunday morning for several hours. Caught several nice lake trout up to 30". Let them all go. The bite was best from 11-noon. Jenny Gulch, 48-54 FOW

Yes, there was a big pike caught. I posted the pic of the fish and my wife holding it, in the general photos section as she caught it on a tip-up. It was 40.5" and 17.39lbs. We had the GF&P come out checking licenses that day and they said it was the biggest they had ever seen caught out of the lake. The fish was actually weighed about six hours after it was caught so it may have been 18+ lbs when it was caught. There have been a lot of 10 plus pound pike caught this month, there has also been a lot of people on the lake.

Thinking of heading to Jenny on Sunday or Monday. Any Reports? Heard a big pike was caught. Never fished thru the ice here.

Went out on Wednesday Dec 16 to Jenny Gulch. Pulled up a 15 inch Rainbow and a 18 inch laker. There were 3 other people fishing close by and they were catching a few rainbows and a couple small (18-24 inch) Pike. The trout were suspended in about 8'-14' in 25' water. I missed a few on the tip-ups due to the fact that it was very cold before the sun came up making my flags freeze to the ice. Dumb istake on my part! I was using minnows on the tip-ups and a teardrop with a fat head on my jigging pole. The ice was a good 8-9 inches. There is a spring at the edge of the ice at the parking area where you first get on the ice so be VERY careful while first getting on. You can see the tracks where everyone walked so use that path because either side of the path is soft (i almost went thru).

fished jenny on sunday. ice was good. 7 inches near the shores, 4-5 out over the deeper water. between three of us we caught over 25 fish. caught three pike over 6 lbs, and 4 lakers over 20 inches. the two biggest pike were caught in 30 + FOW while jigging for trout. they were 7.5 and 9.9 lbs. we did not mark a ton of fish, but the ones we did mark, we caught. the weather was horrible and the fishing was great.

Fished Jenny Gulch Saturday morning for several hours. The ice is good (about 8"). We drilled about 40 holes and did not get a bite or see any fish on the vexilars.
