Pactola Reservoir - Thursday, August 19, 2010
Anyone knows how the fishing is going over here in Pac. About ready to return from a 6 month tour and was wondering if the fishing has been hot lately or if the fishing has been slow?

Pactola Reservoir - Sunday, June 20, 2010
Went out to pactola yesterday for my buddies b-day. We rented a pontoon and fished a little. Didn't have alot of action until we went up jenny and pulled plugs. Ended up with 3 nice rainbows. Threw a few rainbows, bass and sunfish back. I would also like to thank the a-hole that drove his boat right behind ours and got my line in his prop. You owe me a plug and a new spool of line. There were lots of people that were cutting us off and blowing right by us at full throttle. Other than a few jerk offs in boats it was a very nice day. |

A few rainbows but the bluegills were insane! Bite got super hot after 7PM-and it was good before then. East of the south boat launch parking lot. Jigs and flies worked the best, but they would hit everything. I like casting and used a water filled bubble float with medium fly 8' behind it on flouro or light mono. I just bought some flies that look like a house fly-they went like free beer. I threw some spinners and stick baits, bites but nothing in the boat.

Pactola Reservoir - Wednesday, May 26, 2010
My two sons, 8 and 4, and I netted and released 30 bluegill and 15 trout. Had one Northern on but broke him at the boat. Bluegills/Northern were on little jigs/worm with a bobber. Trout were mostly on a water filled bubble float preceding a Pistol Pete fly on 6' of flourocarbon. We anchored on the east side of the south boat launch parking lot in 18' of water and never moved-I rarely stay in one spot but will do this again. Trout were just stocked and none too cagey. Although I threw my usually trusty #1 Vibrax chrome spinners and small Mepps with no luck before trying the bubble float/fly combo.
I always have one rod set up this way. You can cast a fly or little jig a country mile and vary depth based on how much water is in the float. I use 8 or 10lb Fireline to the bubble then use Flouro or small mono from the swivel to the fly. Nothing better than having a 4 yr old rub your nose in it. Life is good. |

Pactola Reservoir - Tuesday, May 18, 2010
Launched the boat at around 7 am and trolled along the western faces up into Jenny gultch area. The creek is running very high and muddy causing some clarity problems throughout the canyon area. I took my 17 ft. crestliner all the way up into the creek and though there were a few bites caught nothing to write home about. Caught two Northerns at the front edge of the gulch right at the first bend. They were both in the creek channel. One broke off at the boat and the other, slightly smaller at 8 pounds, we brought home for grilling. Both were caught using large cow bells. Also caught one rainbow at about 3 pounds using a large, yellow and red, seven of diamonds. It has traditionally been believed there are no pike in Pactola, but those days are, unfortunately, over. They are there and they are big. I have taken three out of there since August last year and none of them were under 8 pounds.

Pactola Reservoir - Monday, May 10, 2010
I fished Saturday and Sunday. 3 lakers (slip bobber 30'+), 2 browns(slip bobber 15') and 1 pike (trolling 30'+) Saturday. And only 2 browns and 1 laker (trolling 30'+) on Sunday. Pike should not be in this lake...

Fished pactola from 11am til 3pm no bites and marked very few fish. Tried all sorts of depths and presentations. Maybee the pike have eaten everything in this lake.
